After various activities with Stefan Thut as das Erdwerk, Bernd Schurer presents some of his early solo pieces as teleform. The album contains a broad spectrum of work ranging from macroscopic sound research to very bizarre forms of entertaining music. The mainly computer-based pieces are precisely arranged; even the tiniest of samples let rhythmical structures develop which threaten to change and break at any moment. The tracks startle the listener with a confusing and, at times, surprising timeline that whispers strange tales from the digital garbage pail. The digital bruitistic roaring, rumbling, clicking and hissing is set alongside some very quiet, concentrated passages, in a stunning, gripping dramaturgy. The CD seeks reference to New Music in quite an unconventional way, humorously utilizing elements of traditional pop and electronic music to form an almost encyclopedic metaphoric network of sounds and structures.
